Aron Canet came through to take pole position in a qualifying session hampered by uncertain conditions. As the rain came down, it looked as if that would be the session over, but the track dried up for the Moto3 grid to put in some laps.

Championship leader Joan Mir lines up second on the grid, with only a 0.2 second gap separating him and pole position. Nicolo Bulega rounds out the front row.

The top 19 were covered by an impressive one second gap, but bigger names such as Fabio Di Giannantonio and Andrea Migno were left towards the back of the grid, qualifying in 25th and 23rd respectively. Both Danny Kent and Maria Herrera have received 12 place grid penalties for riding slowly during practice, after rules have been tightened to stop riders dawdling in pit lane waiting for a tow.
