Corinna Schumacher has sparked hope about the recovery of her husband Michael almost six years after his skiing accident.

December 29th 2013 was the fateful day that the seven-time Formula 1 champion suffered severe head injuries having fallen off-piste on the slopes near Meribel.

Since then, the condition of the 50-year-old has been kept a closely-guarded secret but with a Facebook page to be launched for the 'KeepFighting' initiative, Mrs Schumacher did offer these remarks.

"Big things start with small steps. Many small particles can form a huge mosaic," she said.

"Together you are stronger and that is exactly how combined forces of the 'KeepFighting' movement make it easier to encourage others."

Also offering words of hope and encouragement was Reiner Ferling, chairman of Schumacher's fan club in his home town of Kerpen.

“Unfortunately, the time has come again, the sixth anniversary of Michael’s accident is coming around,” he was quoted by the Independent.

“Six years full of hope that Michael will one day go out in public again.

“We know that Michael is in good hands, that he gets love, security and confidence. Michael can count himself lucky to have such a strong family behind him.

“As a fan club, we will provide all kinds of support that we can provide.”
