Esteban Ocon hopes Force India review the decision to swap the cars as he and teammate Sergio Perez looked to pass Kevin Magnussen during the Russian GP.

The Frenchman was following the Haas driver, who struggled for pace throughout Sunday's race in Sochi, but only had one opportunity to pass, which was strongly blocked off by the uncompromising Dane.

Perez then complained on the radio asking to be given the chance to attack, which was duly given but he too failed with the pair swapping back to give Ocon track position albeit in ninth and 10th.

“We have to review [the tactics], but I think it would have been very tough for both of us," Esteban commented afterwards.

“I understand the team’s point, and to be able to try, but it didn’t work out, so let’s see what we can do better.

“When Sergio was behind he wasn’t close to me and when I was behind it was the opposite, I couldn’t get close as well. The race was fixed from there.

"Ninth place today is not too bad, but we hoped for more and I think we had the pace for more - certainly to be in front of the Haas," he concluded.

As for Magnussen, he conceded the performance of his car was not what he expected as Charles Leclerc sped off into the distance leaving him P8.

"It was a tough race. We didn't quite have enough pace, we were lacking a bit. I think we got all that we could," he said.

"The pace we had yesterday in qualifying was better than the pace we had in the race today."
