Haas is confident of remaining in the battle for points throughout the 2022 Formula 1 season, if not at the same level as in Bahrain.
The American outfit, who languished at the back of the grid last year, was the fourth-best team in the season-opener on a similar pace to Mercedes.
Late problems for both Red Bulls then promoted Kevin Magnussen up to his final finishing position of fifth, while Mick Schumacher managed a career-best P11.
“I don’t want to understand it, I want to live the dream,” team boss Steiner said of the result post-race.

“[Kevin] knew that he had a good car, we saw that [in qualifying], but then you still need to deliver.
“The longest stint we did up to now was 18 laps in a row, so to do 57 was quite an achievement, and we didn’t put our foot wrong, nothing – the team didn’t do anything wrong. Everything was well prepared.
“Also the qualifying, you are fighting on a difficult position, but everybody did their job and made the right decisions at the right time," he added. "So it was a very good weekend.
“For sure, it’s special, because everybody had lost the trust in a very short period of time. The last two years, we had to get by – now we are back."
Magnussen's 10 points from Bahrain actually put Haas third in the Constructors' Championship behind Ferrari and Mercedes.
But with the likes of Red Bull, McLaren, Alpine to name a few behind them, Steiner admits it would be unwise to expect that to be a realistic goal.
"I don't think that will stay for long," he conceded. “Alfa Romeo is very strong as well, so I don’t take it easy now that we are where we are.
“We need to work out and keep on improving the car. Also, with upgrades later on in the year, that is what we are doing.
“But I’m pretty sure that we’ll keep on scoring points.”
