Fernando Alonso claims the introduction of Halo in Formula 1 for 2018 will require teams to change their pit-stop routines due to the limited visibility inside the car.
During the post-season test in Abu Dhabi, some teams were already preparing for the cockpit protection device with McLaren forging ahead by even revealing the first aerodynamic elements which will be allowed to be added to the structure.

The running also enabled the drivers to get more experience behind the wheel with the device attached and try to discover as many potential scenarios where it could have an impact.
"I tried the Halo again and I’m getting used to it," Alonso claimed. "It has its disadvantages, when you want to get in and out of the car. Also when you have to place the car inch perfect during the pit stops, you have to see well where the mechanics are and also the green light to get going again.
"We’ll have to make a few changes to the pit stop work or in the routines we use but that’s why we’re trying it now."
Halo continues to be incredibly divisive with some drivers playing down the impact and anticipating only a short-term backlash, while others have continued to speak out staunchly against it.
