Mick Schumacher has been spotted completing a private test behind the wheel of his father Michael's 1994 Benetton B194 at Spa-Francorchamps ahead of a demonstration he will complete in the build-up to the Belgian Grand Prix.

The 18-year-old is attempting to become the third Schumacher to compete in Formula 1, currently driving for Prema in the European F3 championship where he has scored one podium so far in his first season.

Recently commenting on his future ambitions, he told France's Canal Sport: "I love driving, that’s why I do it and not because of my name.

"I feel no pressure. Maybe that’s what some would like, but I do what I have to do. I drive, and that’s it.”

The iconic Spa circuit has a special place in the career of Michael Schumacher as it was where he made his debut with Jordan in 1991 and would claim his seventh world title there in 2004, however, Mick's demo run an hour before the Grand Prix begins in just less than two weeks is to commemorate 25 years since the German legend's first F1 win which came with Benetton in Belgium in 1992.

He would complete his running in a black helmet in an effort to disguise his identity, however, the secret would slip out confirming the plan. The 1994 Benetton Schumacher Jr. was the car his father famously and controversially won his first world championship in, colliding with Damon Hill at the final race in Adelaide.

Nowadays it is kept in the museum which displays the history of Michael's incredible career but was trusted to Mick to enable him to complete the demonstration.

Unfortunately, the 48-year-old won't see his son complete the sure to be emotional run at Spa as he continues his long recovery from a skiing accident in 2013 which left him with severe head injuries.
