George Russell believes Williams won't be too disadvantaged despite missing the first two days of pre-season testing.

After initially cancelling a shakedown this past weekend, the Grove-based team confirmed it would miss Monday and then Tuesday as delays continue with the new FW42 car.

Currently, there is no confirmation as to whether the new Williams finally reaches the track on Wednesday but, after a dismal 2018, it certainly isn't sending a great message to those wanting to see progress.

“We won’t be out on track but everyone is working as hard as possible to get it sorted,” Russell, who makes his F1 debut this year, told Sky Sports.

“I don’t think it will compromise us too much, to be honest," he stated. "Winter testing is one thing but once you get racing it’s a completely different story.”

Given the issues Williams has had since his arrival in 2017 though, questions are now being asked about the future of technical director Paddy Lowe.

Motorsport.com quoted rumours that the delays may be a result of poor planning on the former Mercedes chief's part and further sources are suggesting the performance of the new car in development is worryingly similar to last year.

When asked, Williams refused to comment on the solidity of Lowe's position which, as the report stated, isn't exactly a strong endorsement.
