Robert Kubica and George Russell both admit Williams’ flaws are been highlighted on Monaco’s streets.

The two drivers once again sat at the bottom of the timesheet, four seconds off the pace set by Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes.

For Kubica, a spin exiting Casino Square provided a scare and he admitted confidence was hard to find in the FW42.

“With the lack of grip we have and struggling with general downforce and general grip of the car, Monaco is not the easiest place to drive,” he told the media.

“Unfortunately the feeling is not great, which was predicted. You hope for a good surprise, but there are no miracles.

“When you lack general grip, in Monaco it highlights it even more, and this makes it even more difficult to push the car and to have enough confidence to be able to squeeze something from driving.”

Russell repeated the Pole’s sentiment but conceded Williams would be happy just to leave Monaco unscathed.

“Monaco is a very specific circuit and if we took a step backwards this weekend we won’t be too disappointed because it’s not too relevant for the rest of the year,” the Briton said.

“We’re finding it a bit of a challenge at the moment.

“The pace at Barcelona was much better on a representative circuit so we won’t take too much away from this.”
