Robert Kubica was perplexed by Williams giving George Russell "priority" on strategy during the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Polish driver had got ahead of his British teammate at the start but it was Russell who was brought in first for tyres, a decision that allowed him to run well in clear air and finish a decent 15th.

A key moment also came when Kubica was spun by Antonio Giovinazzi at Rascasse causing a brief log-jam, with the F2 driver using that to get ahead.

“I thought the driver in front gets priority over who is behind?” a clip revealed Kubica as asking his engineer mid-race.

The response was they would talk later but, speaking to the media, the 35-year-old still had no answers.

“What can I say? As is usual in Monaco, there was not much going on," he said reflecting on the race.

“I gained two positions on the approach and exit of the first corner and then drove to my rhythm.

“A lot of people said that I would not be able to drive here, so it was good to finish.

“Overall, the race was quite good, but the strategy was not the best. That’s that.”
