Team advisor Helmut Marko has once again fended off questions over Pierre Gasly's future at Red Bull.

As Max Verstappen claimed a brilliant victory in Austria this past Sunday, the Frenchman was over a lap down in seventh place, beaten by Lando Norris in the McLaren.

In the build-up to the weekend, Marko had given Gasly a guarantee that he would stay at Red Bull and even after a third poor race in a row, he insists that remains the case.

“Pierre works very hard within the team and that is why he is much more often in the simulator,” he said post-race on Sunday.

“We also have no plans to replace him with another driver. He works with a young engineer and that doesn’t really help either.

“In addition, he has lost the necessary confidence with the crashes in Barcelona, but we have also seen a number of strong races from Pierre and we will work together to pull him out.”

While it does seem certain then Gasly isn't being demoted any time soon, when it comes to 2020, that could be a different story.

"We won’t do that until September or October," Marko added, on when a decision will be made.
