Max Verstappen claims it is hard to take comments by Sebastian Vettel about their battle during the British Grand Prix "seriously"  in the wake of the German's own recent incidents.

The two drivers renewed their rivalry from late last year on Sunday at Silverstone after the Dutchman was able to jump ahead of the Ferrari driver at the start, they would then produce one of the better battles of the race going wheel-to-wheel through Stowe, Vale and Club corners.

Commenting later, Vettel said the Dutchman was still "a bit jumpy" in braking zones when defending his position, something he accused the 19-year-old of doing last year and would actually lead to the so-called 'Verstappen rule'. 

However, in response, the Red Bull driver was asked if incidents Vettel has been involved in, such as that in Baku, had hurt the credibility of the 30-year-old to make such comments.

"Yes, but I don't take that seriously," Verstappen said

"Especially not after all the things he did. If you look at the penalty points that he's got…"

On their battle at Silverstone, after which he accused Vettel of wanting to play "bumper cars" over the radio, he added: "The fight with Sebastian was good. It was hard but fair, I think. That little bit of contact maybe not, but for the rest everything was okay."
