Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has denied rumours of vibrations from the Honda engine causing some disruption to their pre-season.

Several outlets, including InsideRacing, cited comments from Sky Sports contributor Marc Priestley, who claimed he was told the Milton Keynes outfit wasn't able to run at high engine modes because of shaking from their new power unit.

That followed speculation last month, which was confirmed by Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko, that Honda wasn't able to turn up the power on the dyno for the same reason.

“There’s absolutely no vibration issue that we encountered at all in any of the running,” Horner defiantly told RaceFans. “So I’m not quite sure where that’s come from.”

Indeed, Red Bull has had a consistent pre-season to this point surpassing 300 laps although that total is quite a bit less than the mammoth distances achieved by Ferrari and Mercedes.

“We were running a bit lighter in downforce earlier in the week,” the Briton said, offering an explanation for the difference. “But it’s obviously all about understanding these rules, these regs.

“The car’s hitting the targets that we’ve set. As as we always see at this time of year it’s too easy to get sucked into other people’s business.

“We’re very much focused on what we’re doing and our own program. And so far everything is running to plan.”
