Sergio Perez has warned Racing Point each race remains important ahead of a planned upgrade in July.

The Silverstone-based outfit is expected to introduce essentially a B-car around the German Grand Prix, with their current design not as optimised due to the financial issues of last year.

But as Perez pointed out...

"There a lot of races between now and Germany, and it is important to think race by race," he told Autosport on Wednesday.

"We know that after five races we are fifth in the constructors' championship, so it's down to maximising every race and that will be the key this weekend again."

There are rising concerns about the most recent updates brought in Barcelona, however, which saw Racing Point go backwards in the midfield.

"We are a bit worried," the Mexican conceded. "Our performance in Spain was very bad, a lot worse than we expected.

"We hope it was just track-related, and coming here, I hope we can be competitive, and back to our usual level."

Initial signs aren't great though, with Perez and teammate Lance Stroll towards the bottom of the timesheets in first practice on Thursday.

But the podium scorer from 2016 does think there will be opportunities in Monte Carlo.

"95% of the result is [usually] done by the car, but here the other five per cent can be a bit bigger," Perez suggested.

"If you get the perfect Saturday you can get a bit more out of it than in any other place. The driver can make a little bit more of a difference."
