Max Verstappen has drawn rank over his father after ex-Formula 1 driver Jos 'liked' an article suggesting he could leave Red Bull.
Last week, as InsideRacing reported, team advisor Helmut Marko told Italy's La Gazzetta dello Sport that he feared a day when the Dutchman could look elsewhere if results didn't improve at Red Bull.
Following comments earlier this year that Max was in "regular contact" with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff, Verstappen Sr. then 'liked' another version of Marko's remarks on Twitter, hinting his unhappiness at his son's current situation.
Speaking to Holland-based GPFans though, the 21-year-old insisted Jos wouldn't be decided his F1 future.
“I am the driver, not my father,” he stated. “I’m enjoying myself but of course we all know that we need to do better.
“But I believe in the project that we are in with Honda, we’re working hard now to try to step up the performance.”

In separate comments, Verstappen also bemoaned the amount of politics current taking place in the sport, as talks regarding 2021 reach a crucial stage.
"Of course everyone speaks for themselves," he told De Telegraaf.
"Mercedes want very little to change, but a team behind them wants different regulations, then the customer teams are factored in. There is so much politics involved.
"We have nothing to say about it as it's always been political and up to the big bosses. We can try to indicate what we want, like a few years ago when the cars were too slow and had not enough grip.
"Then we went to these wider cars with more downforce, but now we lose more time when we are behind someone.
"We are doing track records everywhere we go, but I don't think that's what it's all about. If you just want faster and faster, you might as well put a robot in it. It must be fun for the fan."
