Daniel Ricciardo was disappointed to miss out on 'best of the rest' after a British Grand Prix spent battling with both McLaren's.

The Australian lost out on to Lando Norris at the start and just couldn't respond as the pair ran side-by-side through Copse and into Maggotts on the opening lap.

An early stop would work, however, to get ahead of the Briton only for a Safety Car to put Carlos Sainz ahead of him, with the pair running nose-to-tail in the closing laps.

“I was busy for the most part, I think at the end it was frustrating. I had a bit of pace on Carlos, but they were quite quick with the traction,” he explained.

“Through the high-speed, I got close but never close enough to get him.

“The few times I was close it was into Turn 15 (Stowe), but unless you are really there with your nose it’s hard to brake right into the corner so I couldn’t really lunge.

"Sixth would have been sweeter, but I think where we were a couple of weeks ago, seventh and tenth for the team is not a bad day,” he concluded.

As for teammate Nico Hulkenberg, he found himself clinging on to P10 after being hit by Sergio Perez after the Safety Car restart and with Norris chasing him down in the final laps.
