Robert Kubica has just a 15 per cent chance of being at Williams next season, veteran Formula 1 reporter Roger Benoit claims

Regardless of his poor car, the Pole has struggled throughout his first year back on the grid since 2010, only beating teammate George Russell twice, albeit doing so when it mattered to inherit 10th in Germany.

His disappointing performance is only part of the equation for Kubica's 2020 hopes, however.

"Waiting with a suitcase of his father's money to replace him is Nicholas Latifi," Benoit wrote for Swiss outlet Blick.

"Kubica's chances of keeping his seat for 2020 are just 15 per cent."

Not only can Latifi give Williams a good financial boost, but he has been proving his talents in Formula 2 with four wins in 2019 to sit second in the Drivers' standings.

In fact, such was his fast start to the F2 season, there was even speculation of the Canadian replacing Kubica before the end of this year but that later cooled.

To lose the 35-year-old from the grid would be a blow given his journey back to F1 following his rally crash in early 2011.

Certainly, Kubica has had plenty of support along the way too, although Russell recently revealed those fans have been particularly disrespectful during this year.

“It’s a little bit hurtful that 50% of the comments on my posts are hate from Polish supporters, whereas the other 50% is complete support for me," he said.

“I mean, I do truly only care about the view from inside what Williams thinks of me, what Mercedes think of me, but you also want to be respected from outside.

“I’ve not come across anyone who’s disrespecting me or giving any hate to me, who are not from Poland.

“So, I appreciate the situation and I can only hope one day I have fans as passionate as his.”
