Kevin Magnussen wants Formula 1 to add more street circuits in the future ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.

Currently, the calendar has three typical city venues in Monaco, Baku and Marina Bay, as well as other more open tracks in Australia and Canada.

Next year will see another in Hanoi at the Vietnamese GP and as Liberty considers a second race in America, the Haas driver certainly wouldn't complain.

“I personally love street circuits,” Magnussen said ahead of his trip to Asia.

“I’d welcome a lot more street circuits on the calendar. I think they’re more exciting and more challenging, as well, because the margin for error is smaller.

“I think, generally, the margin for error is lower at any street circuit."

First taking place in 2008, Singapore also had the honour of being F1's inaugural night race but that doesn't help escape what Magnussen considers the main challenge of this race.

“It’s really a physical race for a few different reasons," he began.

“One, it’s really hot. Two, you don’t ever really get any rest on the lap as you’re constantly working the steering wheel and here’s not a lot of straight line on the track.

“Three, because the average speed of a lap is so low, the race usually goes to the two-hour time limit.

"It’s the most physically demanding race of the year, it is mentally exhausting. You need to be fully focused the whole time, maybe even more than a normal race because you’re constantly in a corner around the lap.

“Just with it being more physically demanding, it’s more mentally demanding. They go hand-in-hand. It’s a tough race, for sure.”

Magnussen's best finish in Singapore is 10th on two occasions, but he does hold the official lap record around Marina Bay with a 1m41.905s last year.
