Porsche on top at end of day 1 in Texas

At the end of the second Free Practice session for the 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas itw as once again a Porsche 1-2 ahead of Toyota but this time it was the no1 919 car of reigning world champion Neel Jani the set the quickest time. 

The Swiss driver lapped the Texas circuit in 1m45.860 in the hot and sunny conditions, 0.5 seconds ahead of his teammates in the no2 Porsche. 

The no7 Toyota TS050 was the quickest of the two cars entered by the Japanese manufacturer with a 1m46.819, nearly a second behind the leading Porsche.

Aston Martin was the quickest of the four GT manufacturers with the no95 Vantage of Nicki Thiim lapping in a time of 2m04.023, just 0.064s ahead of the no67 Ford GT of Harry Tincknell, with the Porsche 911 of Kevin Estre third quickest with a 2m05.208 lap.

It was a Vaillante Rebellion 1-2 in the LMP2 class with Bruno Senna in the no31 Oreca setting a 1m54.601 lap, just two tenths ahead of teammate Mathias Beche in the no13 car. 

Alex Lynn takes the third best time of the 90 minute session with the British driver setting a 1m55.043 in the no26 G-Drive Racing Oreca.

The no98 Aston Martin Racing Vantage of Pedro Lamy was quickest in the LMGTE Am class for the second time today. 

Pedro Lamy was once again the fastest driver with a 2m05.935, with the no61 Clearwater Racing Ferrari F488 in second place at the end of the session
