Championship leader Franco Morbidelli looked unstoppable in Moto2 FP2, holding onto the top spot for the entirety of the session with Mattia Pasini and Miguel Oliveira not too far behind. But with three minutes to go, Pasini bit back to snatch the top spot from the Italian. Takaaki Nakagami, fresh from his win two weeks ago at Silverstone took third over the flag, from Dominique Aegerter and Oliveira who had a number of laps cancelled. Alex Marquez has been declared unfit after his crash in FP1. In a brief statement on Twitter, the EG 0,0 Marc VDS team said: "Contrary to reports, Alex Marquez did not fracture his hip in his FP1 crash this morning, but he will not race this weekend. The impact on his left hip caused internal bleeding, and it would be unsafe for him to ride in Misano." The team later confirmed that an MRI scan revealed a small hairline fracture, and will return to Barcelona for further treatment and recuperation. He will be back at Aragon, Tarran Mackenzie was forced to sit out FP2, due to his crash in FP1. Mackenzie was unhurt but the same can't be said for his bike which hadn't been repaired in time for him to start the session. Crashes seemed to have died down by Moto2, with wildcard Alex De Angelis falling victim to turn two, Luca Marini going down at turn eight, Fabio Quartararo falling prey to turn ten and in the closing moments of the session, Hafizh Syahrin went down at turn fifteen and Jorge Navarro suffered his second crash of the free practice sessions at turn eight with two minutes to go.
