Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) was the fastest rider in FP1 on Friday morning at the Pirelli Aragón Round, with a 1’50.570 time putting him at the top of the timesheet, ahead of Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) and Xavi Fores (BARNI Racing Team).

After his perfect start to 2017, with four wins in four races to date, Rea continued his excellent form to lead the way in the morning run by +0.071s from Lowes -who has also had a solid season so far.

In improving weather conditions with the sun shining through some early clouds towards the end of FP1, Spaniard Fores completed the practice session in third, +0.158s behind Rea.

Jordi Torres (Althea BMW Racing Team) and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) were also in the top five.

Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team), Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati), Leandro Mercado (IODARacing) and Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team colleagues Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden all featured in the top ten.

Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) was hindered by a technical issue in the session and was only able to participate for a short period, ending up at the bottom of the timesheet with a 1'53.896 best lap, +3.326s off the pace.

Warmer temperatures are expected for the afternoon FP2 session which starts at 2.30pm local time (GMT +2) at the #AragonWorldSBK round, so the riders will be looking to improve on their morning times and secure automatic Tissot Superpole 2 placements.
