Team Trident confirmed an agreement reached with Finnish racer Niko Kari to fill the first of the team’s three seats in the new FIA Formula 3 Championship.

The 19-year-old, born in Tuusula, a city located about thirty kilometres north of the capital Helsinki, has been representing the Red Bull colours in the past. Within Team Trident, Kari fits into a winning context. In the nine rounds held last season for the GP3 Series, the Italian squad secured six wins and took second place in the team ranking.

Kari, together with the Milan-based team, will form a combination of unquestionable potential. He will be at his first season with an Italian team in his single-seater career, after running with Team Trident during the post-season test held on the Yas Marina track last November.

Back in the Emirates, he impressed for his speed skills and maturity, dominating most of the sessions he entered. It must be noted that Kari has multiple wins to his name in the European Formula 3 championship and in the GP3 Series.
“I am excited to race under the Team Trident banner in the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship. I am sure that we will reach absolute-level results together." Said Kari "I have been in touch with the Milan-based team for years."

"We enjoyed some great testing sessions at the end of the last season at Abu Dhabi and there are now the right conditions to work together. The team is extremely high-level, technically and from a human standpoint, and I am sure there will be chemistry needed to experience a front-running season. I cannot wait to be on track.”

Giacomo Ricci, Team Manager commented: "I am extremely proud to announce that promising Finnish racer Niko Kari has joined the Team Trident family and will race in the 2019 FIA Formula 3 Championship."

"Niko has the potential needed to aim for the title and make the step to the major racing series, in line with his skills. I can assure that Team Trident will give its best to help the new driver to reach a well-deserved success.”
