As he eyes the seat currently held by Felipe Massa for 2018, Robert Kubica has completed his test day behind the wheel of a 2014 Williams at Silverstone on Wednesday.

Several weeks ago it was revealed the Pole, who completed three test days with Renault earlier in the summer as he vies to the return to Formula 1 for the first time since 2011, would be going head-to-head with reserve driver Paul di Resta, who is also in the running, with the pair conducting test days at the British circuit.

Kubica would go first and Williams would describe the day as "successful" but technical director Paddy Lowe also revealed no information from the day's running, including number of laps and laptimes would be would be made public.

The former Grand Prix winner and the Scot are the only viable alternatives for Massa, despite murmurings of Pascal Wehrlein potentially being an option, this is because title sponsor Martini require at least one driver over 25 to complete promotional events.

Although after stating no data would be released, the former Mercedes boss would add: "I would stress that it doesn't mean they're the only drivers under consideration."

Massa too has expressed his desire to stay on for another season, even suggesting he has the backing of those "who know about motorsport" within the Grove-based team, but the Brazilian's chances are believed to be slim.

It is also understood a second two-day test will take place with both Kubica and Di Resta in Hungary next week.
