Renault Sport Academy driver and current Formula Renault Eurocup champion Max Fewtrell will join Dragon Hitech GP for the second round of the FIA F3 Asian Championship Winter Series at Sepang this weekend, in hopes of extending the team’s championship lead.

The 19-year-old British driver will form a five-car assault alongside Dan Ticktum, Rinus VeeKay, Pavan Ravishankar and Alessandro Ghiretti at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit. The season opener at Thailand’s Buriram International Circuit, which took place last weekend, saw Dragon Hitech GP rocket into the lead of the championship, amassing an impressive six podiums and two race wins.

Fresh off the back of his impressive 2018 Formula Renault Eurocup campaign, in which he secured championship honours, Fewtrell will bring his supreme pace and ability to the grid in a battle for podiums and points.

Following his championship win in British Formula 4 in 2016, the Brit was soon signed to the Renault Sport Academy, making his debut in the highly-competitive Formula Renault Eurocup series the following year. Fewtrell won the Rookie title and finished sixth in the overall classification.

In a hard-fought campaign, his consistency was pivotal to his success as he finished in the top-ten in all but four races throughout the 23-race series and clinched the rookie championship. The Brit then went on to secure the 2018 Formula Renault Eurocup crown the following year, taking six wins on his way to the title.

Round 2 of the Asian F3 Winter Series will get underway at Sepang International Circuit on Saturday, 19th January with Free Practice scheduled at 08:30am local time, ahead of Qualifying and Race 1 in the afternoon. Race 2 and 3 will be held on Sunday.
