Sergio Perez believes Force India’s results since the Belgian Grand Prix have vindicated his decision to trigger the administration process which led to the summer takeover.
The Mexican, along with Mercedes and other parties, came together to put a claim forward for unpaid bills at the Hungarian Grand Prix which reportedly saved the Silverstone outfit from being wound up.
Eventually, Lawrence Stroll and a consortium purchased the team which led to a new entry into this year’s F1 championship and the loss of all their points from the start of the season.
Since then, however, four double points finishes in five races have already seen Force India move back up to seventh in the Constructors’ standings and just 15 points behind McLaren in sixth.
“When you see how the team is running now, operationally, and how things are going along, this is really a racing team,” said Perez to Crash.net.
“We went through a very difficult period where everything was stuck on standby. Performance was the last thing that the team was worried about.
“It’s just amazing to see how well we’ve done during that time. We got a podium, we got so many great memories, so I’m very pleased with that.”

The resurgence, which has often seen Perez and teammate Esteban Ocon sit as ‘best of the rest’ in the midfield, has also reassured the 28-year-old that despite the risk, he made the right call back in July.
“It was very hard, Perez said. “There were some decisions that I had to make in order to save the team, first of all, but at the same time, risking the team in a way.
“It was not easy, not easy for the team as well. For myself, for a racing driver, doing these things, I don’t remember any other driver was in such a difficult position.
“I’m happy with how everything turned out and the direction that the team has now. That gives me the happiness that I took the right decisions for everyone in the team,” he concluded.
