Mick Schumacher is “definitely” set to reach Formula 1 in the future, according to ex-Ferrari driver Jean Alesi.
Despite a subdued first season in Formula 2, the 20-year-old scored his first victory in the series in Hungary, holding of Nobuhara Matsushita to take a lights-to-flag win.
Unsurprisingly, there has been plenty of reaction with Alesi claiming Mick is getting settled into the unique spotlight he holds.
“He will definitely make it to Formula 1,” he was quoted by GrandPrix247.com. “It was not easy for him to get used to who his father is in Formula 1, but it has made him more mature.”
Former team boss Stefano Domenicali agrees, telling Italy’s Corriere della Sera: “I think it took some time to take the passion given to him by Michael and express it in [Mick’s] own way.”

Finally, as a Ferrari junior, team boss Mattia Binotto was also thrilled to see Schumacher make the breakthrough in F2.
“Looking around under the podium, seeing Corinna and many old colleagues, it was like going back to the past,” he admitted.
“Having a boy so full of vitality in our school is a pleasure, and thanks to his commitment and passion, he has already become integrated with the group. He has a strong character but is a team player.”
The reaction to Schumacher’s success only highlights the scrutiny and attention that follows him, even if results haven’t been as expected.
But with Antonio Giovinazzi still struggling to gain a solid footing at Alfa Romeo, while 2020 may be unlikely, plenty will be thinking another M. Schumacher in F1 in 2021.
