Lewis Hamilton admits a threat from Red Bull is the only solid prediction he can make ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
Having lost the past two races to Charles Leclerc and Ferrari, the streets of Marina Bay provide a very different challenge for drivers and cars, likely causing a shift in the competitive order.
Indeed, the only certainty is Mercedes and Hamilton will be one of the favourites for victory, with the Briton having won in Singapore the past two years and four times in total.
“Well, this is one of the toughest races if not the toughest race of the year physically and mentally,” he said of F1’s original night race.
“We come here each year and it shifts between the Ferraris and Red Bulls and us. I think last year the Red Bull has been particularly quick so I anticipate them to be strong this weekend.
“I have no idea if Ferrari will be as quick as they have been over the last two races or not so we are just focusing on ourselves to make sure we extract the most we can.”

Despite Mercedes’ strong recent record in Singapore, Hamilton also admits the race hasn’t always suited Mercedes and luck has played a key factor.
“We have not really performed that well particularly over the last couple of years but we have come out with not so bad results due to other circumstances so I hope that we perform well this weekend,” he concluded.
