Formula 1’s plan to introduce qualifying races at three Grands Prix next year has been rejected by the teams.
The idea would have seen the French, Belgian and Russian GP’s all have the traditional three-part qualifying format replaced with a short sprint race.
The main controversy though surrounded the proposal to decide the grid by reversing the championship order, something most drivers were strictly opposed to, with Sebastian Vettel notably calling it “bulls**t”.

In a vote on Wednesday though, the required unanimous support was not given by the 10 team bosses, meaning either the idea will be scrapped or more work will go into convincing those opposed before another attempt to pass the vote before the start of next season.
