After his health scare in Italy, Alex Albon will “aim high” for a return at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Last weekend at Monza, the Williams driver was sent to hospital with appendicitis on Saturday morning and underwent successful surgery.
However, it was later revealed Albon suffered complications following the operation that led to respiratory failure and saw him moved into intensive care and briefly put onto a ventilator.
By Tuesday though, Alex’s progress was such that the returned home to Monaco to continue his recovery.
And on Friday, he posted an update to his fans on social media.

“I feel pretty good. I feel okay,” he said.
“Obviously on Saturday, I had a slight issue, and the doctors did an amazing job. Very grateful that they got me in good health and out of the hospital by Tuesday.
“So I’ve been in Monaco since then, been starting to walk around and the goal is to be ready for Singapore, which is going to be tough.
“It’s one of the toughest races that we go to, so it’s not an easy one but let’s aim high, and see what happens.
“Just a quick message to say thank you for the kind messages have been reading them all, as many as I can, and it means a lot. So, thanks.
“Hopefully see you in Singapore and peace out.”
If Albon is unable to race, Williams will likely call on Nyck De Vries again, who stood in so well at Monza and scored points on his F1 debut finishing P9.
