AlphaTauri next to reveal their 2021 car, the AT02

AlphaTauri has completed the second car launch ahead of the new Formula 1 season, revealing the AT02 on Friday.

Last year, the rebranded sister Red Bull team enjoyed one of their strongest seasons in F1 despite only managing seventh in the Constructors’ Championship.

The highlight undoubtedly was Pierre Gasly winning the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, 12 years after Sebastian Vettel did the very same when the team was known as Toro Rosso.

That victory spurred a strong second half of 2020 which saw AlphaTauri more regularly join the main midfield battle behind Mercedes and Red Bull.

As a result, the Italian squad ended with their highest points total for a single year with 107, just 24 points behind Ferrari.

In 2021, the aim is to continue fighting near the front of the midfield, with the team welcoming promising youngster Yuki Tsunoda alongside Gasly.

The Japanese driver becomes F1’s first driver to be born in the 21st Century and earned his spot after finishing third in last year’s F2 standings.
