Audi’s R8 LMS GT4 will make its Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia debut at Suzuka next weekend (June 22/23) with Absolute Racing.

Audi Sport R8 LMS GT4 Cup champion Anderson Tanoto of Indonesia and experienced Australian privateer Mark Williamson will team up in Japan against the championship’s full-season entries.

It also represents Absolute’s first GT4 foray following two-and-a-half years in the championship’s GT3 class where it currently enters a pair of Audis and Porsches.

Williamson lies second in the current Audi R8 LMS Cup GT4 standings, two places ahead of reigning champion Tanoto who also competes there with Absolute Racing.

“We are delighted to see two Cup drivers team up to debut the Audi R8 LMS GT4 in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia,” said Martin Kuehl, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia. “GT4 competition is rapidly gathering strength across the region, and the addition of Anderson Tanoto and Mark Williamson to our Audi line-up further reinforces our presence in this prestigious championship.”

Audi’s first GT4 model made its global debut last season and was immediately successful. Dynamic and powerful, with a normally aspirated V10 engine, the Audi GT4 is a thoroughbred race car designed specifically for privateers.
