The second free practice session for the final round of the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup again saw Audi cars dominating the top of the standings.
The #5 Belgian Audi Club Team WRT R8 of Dries Vanthoor – yes, him again – proved to be quickest. He was the first driver to break the 1’55 barrier with a 1’54.708 lap. Vanthoor was marginally quicker than his team-mate Robin Frijns in the #17 Team WRT Audi, with Rob Bell in the #59 Strakka Racing McLaren in third.
The main title contenders, Buhk-Perera in the #84 Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport car and Bortolotti-Engelhart in the #63 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini, had a torrid afternoon. Both pairings had to park their car before the end of the session, with a puncture for the Lamborghini causing an early end to the session.
Fastest of the Silver Cup cars was the #85 HTP Motorsport Mercedes-AMG of freshly crowned champions Fabian Schiller and Jules Szymkowiak, with Daniel Keilwitz putting his #333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari on top in the Pro-Am Cup and fourth overall.
Tomorrow sees the qualifying session at 9.40 CEST, with the Qualifying Race getting underway at 14.00 CEST.
