Valtteri Bottas was happy to help the team after giving Lewis Hamilton a tow during British Grand Prix qualifying.
The seven-time world champion delighted the Silverstone crowd with his first P1 in a qualifying session since the Spanish GP in May, as Mercedes hit back against Red Bull’s recent domination.
And while an upgrade and the famed high-speed corners of Silverstone boosted the Brackley-based team, Bottas’ slipstream also helped Hamilton overcome the straight-line speed deficit which Mercedes has had since Paul Ricard.
“Yeah, I think we are a team and we try to get the best results,” the Finn said confirming his role in Lewis’ lap.

“I think it was a good qualifying based on what we saw in the practice how fast Red Bull was so we managed to get on pole as a team.
“This was qualifying but then tomorrow we have the qualifying race and there is all the opportunity still, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Indeed, Bottas himself secured third on the grid, less than two-tenths off Hamilton’s time, and hopes to be involved both on Saturday and Sunday.
“You know, it’s all to play for,” he added. “It’s quite interesting, actually and it will be nice to see how it goes tomorrow.
“Hopefully, we have a good race pace but at least we are there and we’re there to fight.”
