Jenson Button will make his first appearance in Japan’s Super GT series later this summer after announcing his participation at the Suzuka 1000.
The 2009 Formula 1 world champion competed in what many expect to be his final race in Monaco last weekend, standing in for Fernando Alonso at McLaren whille the Spaniard was at the Indy 500.
The Briton remains a part of the British team in an ambassadorial role and will tie-up with engine partner Honda to race for the Mugen team in August alongside regular drivers Hideki Mutoh and Daisuke Nakajima with a first test to take place at Suzuka later this month.
“As an F1 driver and a member of Team Mugen, I will push to win. I am very much looking forward to racing in front of my Japanese fans again,” he added.
