Antonio Felix Da Costa had ended practice fastest in Berlin, on a day where Da Costa can seal the drivers’ championship into today’s race.

The Techeetah driver has a 68-point lead in the drivers’ standings and just needs to ensure that he has over a 60-point advantage to claim the championship title.

Yesterday’s race winner Maximilian Gunther ended the session second fastest with a lap time of 1.06.358, which was just 0.039 of a second slower than Da Costa’s lap.

Oliver Rowland was third in the Nissan. The British driver set a 1.06.450 to end the session just ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne who finished the session in fourth place for Mercedes.

Sebastien Buemi ended the session in fifth place in the second Nissan car, and Nyck De Vries finished in sixth in the second Mercedes.

Mitch Evans finished in seventh for Jaguar with reigning champion jean-Eric Vergne in eighth in the second Ds Techeetah.

Sam Bird ended the session in ninth for Virgin Racing ahead of Lucas Di Grassi who ended the session in tenth.

Nico Muller had a strong session in the Dragon Racing car to finish the session in 11th place. The German driver will be looking to replicate that form in qualifying.
