Former Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo is being linked to a bid to replace former Ferrari team boss Jean Todt as FIA president.
The Frenchman will step down from the position at the top of motorsport’s governing body next year having first been voted to the role back in 2009 and serving the permitted three four-year terms.
With the presidency to be vacated then, Italy’s Autosprint is reporting potential successors, including Motorsport UK boss David Richards, Formula E chief Alejandro Agag and current vice-president Mohammed bin Sulayem.

However, according to a “well-known source in the Formula 1 environment”, Autosprint also claims Di Montezemolo will put his name into the hat.
Since leaving Ferrari in 2014, the Italian was appointed as non-executive chairman at airline Alitalia and was involved in Rome’s failed bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
