Former Formula 1 drivers Brendon Hartley and Pascal Wehrlein have been named as two of Ferrari’s development drivers for 2019.
The Scuderia was in need of two new names to complete simulator work after Daniil Kvyat and Antonio Giovinazzi both earned promotions back to the grid for this season.
Hartley joins having been ousted at Toro Rosso at the end of last year while Wehrlein left the Mercedes program at the end of 2018 and will combine his new duties with his seat in Formula E.
Two Academy drivers, Antonio Fuoco and Davide Rigon will make up the four-man line-up.
“Our team has taken on four undoubtedly talented drivers, who possess innate feeling with a strong understanding of race cars and tracks,” said Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto.
“These are exactly the qualities required in the skilful role of driving in a simulator, one of the vital pieces of equipment in the Formula 1 of today.”

Not mentioned on that list is new Ferrari Academy member Mick Schumacher, but it is thought the German will get his first experience of F1 machinery at some point this year.
