F1 struggling to reschedule Chinese GP as teams reject two dates

Efforts to reschedule the Chinese Grand Prix have been hit after Formula 1 teams rejected two proposed dates put forward this week.

Amid the ever-increasing Coronavirus outbreak, it seems all-but-certain the race currently set for April 19 will not go ahead, with a final decision from Shanghai authorities expected soon.

Given the importance of the Chinese market to F1, Liberty Media are keen to only postpone the event until later in the year if possible.

However, Auto Motor und Sport has reported teams said no to two possible alternative weekends.

The first was following the Hungarian GP on August 9, reducing the summer break to three weeks, and the second was November 22, between the Brazilian and Abu Dhabi GP’s.

Given the lack of other viable options, without creating an unprecedented quadruple-header, it does seem more likely that should the Chinese GP not go ahead, it will be cancelled until 2021.
