Ferrari has decided who will replace Sebastian Vettel in 2021 with an announcement expected soon, rumours are suggesting.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed the four-time world champion would be departing the Italian team at the end of this year after both sides mutually agreed not to extend his contract.

This comes after a frustrating five-year partnership during which Vettel claimed 14 wins, but saw dreams of adding a fifth world title with the Scuderia slip away both in 2017 and 2018.

After news of his exit, of course, attention turns to who will take his seat at Ferrari next season and we may not have to wait long to find out.

It is claimed Ferrari have already decided and signed Charles Leclerc’s new teammate from next season and an announcement could come as soon as later this week.

Names like Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, Antonio Giovinazzi and Lewis Hamilton has been linked to the seat, though one of the first two is believed to be the most likely.

In Ricciardo’s favour is his previous top team experience with Red Bull and strong relationship with Leclerc but high salary demands could work against the Australian.

As for Sainz, last year he enjoyed a breakout year at McLaren, finishing sixth in the Drivers’ standings. Without a wheel being turned yet in anger this year, however, it would be risky to sign the Spaniard purely off one very good season.

We’ll have to wait and see what Ferrari have decided!
