Sky Sports commentator Martin Brundle is no longer sure Lewis Hamilton would be world champion if Formula 1 had equal cars.
The Briton has successfully won the title in five of the past six years during this era of Mercedes domination and in recent years, has done so by also being clearly superior to his main rivals.
But in a Twitter Q&A on Tuesday, Brundle was asked who he would back between Hamilton and Red Bull's Max Verstappen if both teams were on level terms.
"Until 2019, I’d have always put my money on Hamilton," he replied. “But I believe the tide is turning and that’s why I’m particularly sad not to be witnessing Max vs Lewis right now.”

Heading into this season, it was expected the Dutchman would offer the main competition to Hamilton as his Red Bull team gradually closes the gap on Mercedes.
Last year saw the pair go head-to-head on several occasions, with Lewis holding off Max for victory in Monaco and coming out on top again in a brilliant duel in Hungary before Verstappen finally scored the win in Brazil.
One thing that is for sure, however, is Hamilton's place atop the F1 pyramid has not been under this much pressure for quite some time and that's before we even mention the other young gun nibbling at his heels, Charles Leclerc.
