Nico Hulkenberg says he'll try and "stay on the ball" when it comes to attempting a Formula 1 return in 2021.
The German found himself without a seat on the grid for the first time since 2011 this year, after Renault replaced him with Esteban Ocon.
And while a return to WEC or move to Formula E appeared possible, Hulkenberg has said he'll keep himself open for any F1 opportunities that emerge, even if the current situation caused by the coronavirus has complicated things.
“It is difficult to answer,” he told Auto Motor und Sport of his future. “Everything is out of balance and normal rhythm.
“The silly season, the transfer time, is not taking place at the moment. Without a race, nobody can stand out positively or negatively. We are in a state of limbo.

“At the moment everything is speculative, it is not possible to predict how the cards will fall. The situation is new to everyone," Nico added.
“If the season starts, many questions will arise. So I can only stay on the ball, watch and hope that I am in the right place at the right time.”
This year's driver market was set to be one of the most active with only a handful of seats currently taken for 2021.
But the financial impact of the coronavirus means most teams may well opt for stability with their current line-ups.
“We are all just passengers at the moment," Hulkenberg said. “When the world starts spinning again, we will see what is going on.”
