Kimi Raikkonen is remaining tight-lipped about his future in Formula 1 after 2020.

The 2007 world champion turns 41 later this year and has become increasingly frustrated with an underperforming Alfa Romeo car that has left him fighting at the back of the grid.

Indeed, six races in, Raikkonen is still yet to score a point this season and has qualified last twice, the only two occasions in his F1 career.

And ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, a race he's won four times, the Finn admitted he wants to be higher up the grid.

“I haven’t decided yet," he simply said about whether he'll continue next season.

“You’d much rather race in a better position or fighting for the points, but there’s never a guarantee, wherever you go, that it’s going to be good or bad.

“I think the bigger picture is much more important for me. First of all, comes the family, the kids are getting bigger, this year I’ve been able to be more home, which is great and I think that’s what makes me decide to continue racing or not," he added.

“There’s going to be a point where I’ll want to be home and do other things, but not yet.”

As for whether Raikkonen would consider switching teams for 2021, he replied: “I need to decide what I will do and we’ll see.

“Right now, that’s the first thing to decide. I don’t really see that it would change anything in terms if I stay with them or not.

“Until I decide what I do, those things are not on my list.”

Alfa Romeo teammate Antonio Giovinazzi is also out of contract at the end of the year, and faces a lot of competition from three Ferrari juniors all battling near the front in F2, including Mick Schumacher.

Asked if he had, had any indications on his future, the Italian said: “It’s still a bit too early, just did six races.

"I just know I need to continue like I’m doing. Be consistent, be competitive, and then we’ll see.”

Nico Hulkenberg is another name often linked to Alfa and would be a strong option if Raikkonen called it quits after Abu Dhabi.
