Mick Schumacher insists no decision has been made on his future, despite strong links to Alfa Romeo for 2021.
Friday was meant to see the current Formula 2 championship leader make his first practice appearing for the Swiss team at the Nurburgring, but rain and fog saw the morning session ultimately cancelled.
Still, speculation is continuing that Schumacher Jr could be confirmed as an Alfa driver for next season as early as today.
“The future is still very open,” Mick told Sky Deutschland on Thursday.
“In the end, I still have to drive my Formula 2 season, that is my full focus.
“Of course my dream is to get into Formula 1. When that will happen, we still have to see.”

Earlier rumours had claimed Schumacher was guaranteed an F1 seat next year if he finished in the top three of the F2 championship.
So pressed on when a decision might be made, the 21-year-old replied: “I can’t really answer that yet. Formula 2 is going quite well so it could be interesting.”
Ahead of his planned practice outing on Friday, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel hinted it would mark "kick-off" for Schumacher's F1 career.
His only regret though was that his father, seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, wasn't able to see it in person.
“Michael is my hero. First and foremost, we would all like to have him here so that he can see his son take the next step. This is the biggest thing we’re missing," he said.
“But it’s good that Mick is getting his chance, hopefully next year with a seat.
“His character is in this sense even more impressive than the results,” Vettel added.
“I think you should not put too much weight on him. He is a great guy. With this attitude, approach, calmness and maturity, I believe he will succeed a lot in the next years."
