Alex Albon insists retaining his seat at Red Bull next season is his only plan and only focus heading into the final three races.

Based on recent comments, the mood does seem to point towards the Thai driver remaining alongside Max Verstappen in 2021, this as Nico Hulkenberg admits the situation has gone quiet and Sergio Perez openly talks of taking a sabbatical.

A further hint also came after Albon was announced as a Wings for Life ambassador on Thursday

But, while he remains unconfirmed the speculation will continue and ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the 24-year-old sees things going in the right direction.

“It was a good weekend from my side,” he said reflecting on the Turkish GP, where he scored his first points since Sochi.

“It was a step forward in terms of pace. We did a few things to the car which felt better and at the end of the day, there’s still three races to show what I got and that’s what I want. I want to have a good three races ahead of me."

Recently, Red Bull boss Christian Horner stated that keeping Albon remained the team's 'Plan A' for 2021, and for Alex too that is his only option.

“The focus is on these three races, there’s not really any other thought to it," he added.

"Most people have a Plan B but my plan is Plan A and that’s staying in this team. I’m focused on that, that’s my goal and yeah, as I said, just focus on the last three races.”

All year, Albon's problem has been adapting to the tail-happy nature of the Red Bull car which is much better suited to Verstappen's driving style.

And he does feel progress in that area is continuing.

“I would say it’s just about confidence in the car, driving the car and being on the limit the whole time and being consistent with it,” he explained.

“Especially at the start of the year we had a difficult rear end and that is getting better. In terms of my feeling with the car, that is also improving. If I can just feel better in that sense, that’s really the main thing.”
