Pierre Gasly claims he is struggling for consistency with his Red Bull after missing out on the top 10 in Bahrain Grand Prix qualifying.
While his team accepted the blame for his Q1 exit in Australia, Saturday was purely on the Frenchman as he slumped to P13, even finishing just behind Toro Rosso rookie Alex Albon.
On a weekend though when Red Bull has struggled to extract the performance from the soft tyre, Gasly admits his confidence is probably less than it was two weeks ago.
“Since the beginning of the weekend, we kind of struggled,” he said after qualifying. “I don’t really feel comfortable, especially with the rear.
“[The car is] wheel-spinning a lot and is quite unpredictable, especially this weekend – in Melbourne it was okay.
“Sometimes I turn, nothing happens, next corner I will turn, I will lose the rear. It just feels like I can’t really drive how I want,” he added.
“We tried something in qualifying which didn’t really improve it.”

The result was Gasly finishing 0.8s behind teammate Max Verstappen, who himself was unhappy having scrambled to P5.
Pierre though thinks the Dutchman is less averse to the problems with the RB15.
“I think at the moment Max seems quite a bit happier – probably not perfectly,” he said. “For me, it just feels like it doesn’t really do what I want, mid-corner and especially on the exits.
“I probably need a bit more time and look a bit more with the engineers, what we can do to make it a bit more consistent to drive, so at least I can predict what’s going to happen!”
