Haas team boss Guenther Steiner wants a decision soon from Robert Kubica on a potential development driver role in 2020.
Since announcing his departure from Williams back in September, the Pole has been linked to several destinations including a race seat in DTM and a behind the scenes role at the American outfit.
Last week that changed, however, when it was reported Racing Point were now in the lead for Kubica’s services and Steiner admits the phone lines have gone quiet.
“At the moment, that’s a little bit on stand by,” the Haas boss was quoted by GPToday.com.
“There are no developments in the last two weeks and I hope we get news next week.
“It’s more from his side, he needs to decide on what he wants to do. We are patiently waiting and it is what it is. It’s a big decision and we respect that.”
As part of any development role he takes, Kubica has asked for Friday practice outings which Haas have already said would be necessary anyway.

Now though, speculation is suggested the 35-year-old is wanting an option of a potential race seat for 2021.
“Nobody is certain to be here in 2021 because nobody is certainly signed so I think everybody is making the same comments,” Steiner said.
“We haven’t signed anyone by the way but as soon as you do they’re fine with it because you have no leverage.
“It’s a little bit of a game. It’s not my decision what to do in 2021 but you cannot stop thinking about what we are going to do so you cannot stand by.
“You do everything as you would in 2021 otherwise the time you will never make back.”
