Hamilton not retiring anytime soon despite Rosberg comments

Lewis Hamilton claims he feels as good as he ever has despite Nico Rosberg suggesting he is past his best.

Perhaps indirectly referring to his former Mercedes teammate, the 2016 world champion recently said that between 30-32 was the “best age” for a racing driver during their career.

This also comes after Rosberg has also recently declared Max Verstappen would beat Hamilton at the same team and said complaints of being ill at the German GP were part of the ‘Lewis Hamilton Show’.

“I’ve never seen the blog, I don’t know who follows it, but it has no bearing on anything that I do,” the five-time champion declared referring to Nico’s YouTube channel.

“I don’t care, everyone has their own opinion. Whether he’s right or wrong, I don’t really care.

“All you have to do is look at my tally of results over the years, and they kind of speak for themselves.

“So naturally there will be people that have not had the success that I’ve had and might want to talk it down, but that’s OK.”

Hamilton even suggested some comments from Rosberg were actually about himself rather than the Briton and on the topic of his longevity, Lewis still sees himself at his peak.

“I feel great,” he stated. “I’m still fit. Maybe not fitter than ever because I was sick a week ago, but I wanted to come back strongly this weekend and I succeeded.

“I am 34, but I feel like I’m doing better than ever.

“One day I will have to stop,” he added. “But right now I feel fantastic physically, generally, this year, and mentally, so I currently don’t have any plans of stopping any time soon. There’s more to do, more to win.

“There’s more to achieve together inside and outside of the car, within the sport and outside of the sport.”
