Mir extends Suzuki MotoGP contract for two years

Joan Mir announced a new two-year contract renewal with Suzuki during an interview on MotoGP's Instagram account.

The 22-year-old Spaniard, a former Moto3 world champion in 2017, made his premier class debut in 2019 and impressed everyone at Suzuki scoring 10 top 10's en route to 12th in the Riders' standings.

"I'm extremely happy to sign for another two years. Renewing is the best thing that could happen and it's a dream come true again!" he said.

By extending his contract he joins the likes of Marc Marquez, Maverick Vinales and Fabio Quartararo, riders who already announced their contracts for 2021 and 2022.

"We are very happy to have reached an agreement with Joan Mir and have him complete our line up for the next two years," team boss Davide Brivio said.

"We consider Joan a very talented rider and it is important to continue together to take full advantage of the experience that we have built so far, and trying to improve even more." 

Joan Mir will be joined again this season by Alex Rins. The two Spaniards will try to win again races for the Hamamatsu based team during the 2020 campaign.
