Red Bull has announced Formula 2 driver Sergio Sette Camara will return to the stable as a reserve driver for 2020.

The Brazilian was previously tied to the Austrian brand back in 2016 and spent that year as a development driver at junior team Toro Rosso before being dropped.

In 2018, McLaren came calling with Sette Camara joining as a development driver before his departure was revealed earlier this year.

He heads back to Red Bull to share reserve driver duties with Sebastien Buemi, who has held that role ever since he was dropped by Toro Rosso at the end of 2012.

And the two drivers will cover both Red Bull and rebranded sister team AlphaTauri for the season.

“I am extremely happy to join the Red Bull family as Official Test & Reserve driver for the 2020 Formula One season alongside Sebastien,” Sette Camara commented.

“I’ve been watching F1 since I was five years old and I’m humbled to have been given this opportunity to work with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri.”

The 21-year-old became eligible for an F1 superlicence after finishing fourth in last year's F2 championship.

This year, however, it is thought he could join Carlin's IndyCar team for a limited schedule after testing for them earlier this year.
