Sergio Perez is in isolation after an "inconclusive" test for Covid-19 ahead of this weekend's British Grand Prix.

The Mexican is the first known member of the Formula 1 paddock to have returned anything other than a negative coronavirus test since the process began ahead of the new season, though two personnel, thought to be track marshals, did test positive ahead of the Hungarian GP.

As a result, Perez has been barred from entering Silverstone until the results of a second test are confirmed, meaning he was absent from his media duties with Racing Point on Thursday.

This is the latest example of F1's Covid-19 protocols working as intended, with each team meant to remain within their own 'bubble' at all times and testing conducted every five days, though more frequently during the GP weekend.

Should Perez continue to be declared inconclusive or even confirmed as positive, Racing Point will have to enter a reserve driver for this weekend's race.

That is expected to be fellow countryman and Mercedes development driver Esteban Gutierrez, with Stoffel Vandoorne currently preparing for Formula E's final six races over just nine days in Berlin to complete Season 6.
