Lewis Hamilton may find himself at odds with the FIA again as a full ban on jewellery is set to be imposed at the British Grand Prix.

Earlier this year, the seven-time world champion was given two races to fully remove all jewellery, studs and piercings after the governing body tried to impose a strict ban on safety grounds.

That was later extended until today (June 30) to allow for further discussions on the matter with the FIA medical commission.

However, with no word yet on any other further grace period, it would appear the full jewellery ban will come into effect at Silverstone, potentially putting Hamilton at the risk of a penalty if he doesn't comply.

“I don’t have any plans on removing [them]," he said of taking out studs in his nose and ears. "I feel there are personal things and you should be able to be who you are and I will continue to do that.”

The harshest punishment the FIA could impose is to prevent Hamilton from taking part at the British GP, as he would not be deemed in compliance with the rules.

But that would almost certainly be avoided given the backlash it would trigger at Lewis' home race, a fine of penalty points a more likely outcome.
